I work in behavioral healthcare, where I have a genuine desire to help patients struggling with mental health issues. The experience is humbling, as the shifts can be challenging, just like some of the patients I encounter.
My time at the facility has profoundly shaped me. I have learned a great deal about human resilience and vulnerability. These individuals are not just patients; they are people grappling with issues such as abandonment by loved ones, homelessness, addiction, or suicidal thoughts. I have met some of the kindest souls imaginable—people who, despite their pain, take the time to comfort one another. I help them navigate their emotions and work through their past traumas. Their stories have moved me deeply; some brought tears to my eyes, others stirred anger on their behalf, and many left lasting impressions that I will carry forever.
Despite the hardships, there have been many moments of connection and healing that I cherish deeply. Witnessing someone regain hope or find comfort through our interactions makes every challenge worthwhile.
